Grades matter to every student — so our calculators should work for every student. GradeCentric is designed and tested with accessibility as a requirement, not an afterthought, using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as our target standard.
What We Build For
Every tool on this site is built to be usable with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at high zoom levels, and on small screens. In practice that means:
- Full keyboard operability — every calculator, dropdown, and dialog can be used without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator at every step.
- Screen-reader support — results, warnings, and changes (like adding or removing a course row) are announced as they happen, and every control has a descriptive name.
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds WCAG AA ratios for text and controls, and interface states that never rely on color alone.
- Layouts that reflow down to 320px-wide screens and remain usable at 200% browser zoom and with increased text spacing.
- Respect for system preferences — animations are disabled when your device asks for reduced motion, and the interface adapts to Windows High Contrast mode.
- No accounts, time limits, or sign-up walls — every tool works immediately for everyone.
How We Test
Automated checkers only catch part of accessibility, so we use several of them and then go further. The site is evaluated with multiple independent engines — including axe-core, WAVE, IBM Equal Access, and Lighthouse — across every page and interactive state, alongside manual review of keyboard behavior, focus order, screen-reader announcements, and zoom and contrast handling. Accessibility checks are repeated when we make significant changes.
Known Limitations
We are not currently aware of any accessibility barriers on the site. The web changes, browsers change, and we occasionally ship new features — so if something doesn’t work for you, we treat that as a bug, not an edge case.
Feedback
If you encounter any difficulty using GradeCentric with assistive technology — or have a suggestion that would make the tools work better for you — please tell us at [email protected]. Reports like these get fixed with priority.
