Whether you’re working with percentages, letter grades, points, or weighted averages, our calculator covers all your grading needs. With just a few simple inputs, it computes your average grade quickly, saving you time and helping you stay on top of your grades.
How to use the grade calculator
1. Input your grades. Enter your grades (either letter or percent) into the calculator’s grade inputs.
2. Input your weights. Enter your weights for the corresponding grades into the calculator’s weight inputs.
3. (Optional) Set your goal. If you have a target final grade, enter it to see the grade required to meet your goal.
4. (Optional) Adjust the grade scale. Adjust the calculator’s grade scale for your grading needs. For point-based grading systems, toggle the point system option.
5. Review results. The calculator will instantly compute and display your average grade and other grade results.
How the calculator works
The calculator uses your inputted grades—such as percentage, letter grades, and weights—and applies a standard grading formula to calculate your average grade.
The formula used is: Average Grade = (grade1 x weight1 + grade2 x weight2 + … + gradeN x weightN) / (weight1 + weight2 + … + weightN)
By default, this calculator uses the standard 4.0 scale common in most schools, but you can easily and fully adjust the grade scale for more precise outcomes using the grade scale feature. The default 4.0 scale used is:
